LIVELIHOOD OPPORTUNITIES FOR SINGLE WOMEN FAMILIES

This project aims to improve the financial independence for 1156 single women-headed families in 35 rural villages in Perambalur, Ariyalur, Trichy and Kancheepuram Districts. The program also supports 322children to improve education, leadership skills and livelihood opportunities through 16 Child Parliament Groups.

Enhanced livelihood opportunities for single women families

The program has eight objectives:

  • To improve family health.
  • To improve environmental health.
  • To improve staff capacity in project delivery.
  • To increase women’s incomes, through livelihood, finance and small business training.
  • Create awareness of government support schemes for single women and people with disability.
  • To raise community awareness on human rights, reduce discrimination and promote inclusive development.
  • Provide psychological support, to improve self-confidence, and leadership skills of women to increase women’s participation in village level events and local governance.
